We provide the core hardware components for the entire vehicle, the remote control (for the Complete Edition only), and electronic components such as the motor, signal receiving device. No additional sourcing of individual parts is required. Assembly can begin immediately after printing. Average assembly time is approximately 90–120 minutes(not included the printing time for 3D printed parts)

A: MakerKit RC focuses on “RC driving and DIY design” – the car body / boat hull are completely 3D printed by the user. We provide the hardware parts and an optional remote controller, and we open up the community for users to upload, download, and iterate on their own designs.
MakerKit RC is perfect for you if you enjoy designing custom appearances, want a unique personality for your model, and are willing to deeply engage with the open source community. More types of MakerKit will be released in the future.

A: Sorry, you will need at least a standard consumer-grade desktop 3D printer to print the body, hull, and other 3D printed exterior and structural parts.
Q: What filaments do I need to buy?

- For the body / structural parts: We recommend PLA+, PLA+ 2.0, PETG, ABS, or even stronger engineering materials to ensure sufficient structural strength. (Standard PLA can also work, but it will be less sturdy.)
- For tires and bumper guards: We recommend TPU (flexible material). You may also buy rubber tires separately for better grip.
- For the boat hull: Use waterproof materials and apply additional sealing (silicone sealant / epoxy coating are recommended).
Q: What’s the difference between the Complete Edition and the Basic Edition? Can I buy the remote controller separately? Can I use my own remote controller?

A: For both the RC car and RC boat, the Complete Edition includes one remote controller, while the Basic Edition does not. All other contents are the same. At this time, the remote controller is not sold separately, and we do not recommend using third-party controllers. We suggest purchasing the Complete Edition with the official remote controller.

A: Yes. We will continue to add new official STL files for cars and boats. We also encourage users and players to upload their own designs.

A: No. The drivetrain, sealing requirements, and structural designs are different for cars and boats. We have designed dedicated remote controllers and parts packs for each category. Both are fun, so please choose the one that fits your needs.

A: The standard receiver is not waterproof – it only resists light splashes. If you are designing or assembling an RC boat, we recommend that you apply your own waterproofing treatment.

A: Assuming you have one printer, a single car takes about 10–22 hours to print (including the frame, body shell, and tires). The actual time depends on your layer height settings and printer speed.
